A highlight of my trip was spending a week in a friend's late grandmother's apartment in the middle of Budapest. Everything was exactly as she left it and we were often amused by what a 'war child' her grandmother apparently was - a mug's handle that had been broken in at least 5 pieces superglued together, an old deodorant bottle used to store peppercorns and drink bottles' lids reused as spoons. I really loved Hungary and everyone I met there and can proudly say that I can now correctly pronounce 'Magyar' (Hungary in Hungarian - which apparently is the 3rd most difficult language to learn).
