Change

And breathe.

I feel like my life has completely changed over the past 3 months. In a very good way. When I've asked friends who I haven't seen in a while what they've been doing and they answer "not much" I find it hard to believe - how can so much change in one person's world but not another's? 

The glaringly obvious change is that I've now finished uni (in Australia…), that I've been settling into a new house, a new job and a new church. So much else though, so many little things that I guess would never have happened if I hand't moved physical locations. My whole schedule has changed because living in the city has allowed me to cycle regularly groups, and I've seriously fallen in love with it! Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon-phase of road riding but I love the adrenaline rush and the camaraderie with fellow riders. Going for a very early ride and watching the sun rise over the ocean puts me into a good state of of mind for the rest of the day (until I start crashing again around 9pm…). I wrote a really 'down' post earlier this year after my heel injury, and I'm truly thankful for this unexpected silver lining.

New friendships. Meaningful ones. A support circle and the feeling of genuine care and love.

Realising I've become so much more sure of myself, my faith and being comfortable in my own skin this year. A really awful thing happened a few weeks back but I think I'm coping okay, and I'm going to take that as a sign of becoming more resilient. Maybe I'll make a zine about it these holidays.

Oh yeah, I'm another year older! I think my perception of age has also changed though, and I no longer feel like I need to ask someone's age straight away and then write-off potential friendships if they aren't within a few years of me. 

I'm excited for what I think the next couple of years might have in store, for now I'll  be putting more effort into writing more on here. I've missed it.

Mountain two

Living here has renewed an appreciation for nature and the outdoors in me, after thinking for so long in Sydney that I could only ever see myself living in a city. These photos are from the same place as my previous post, around Lünersee. This past Saturday I went on one, if not the, best hikes I've ever gone on - you might have seen on Instagram. I'll post photos from that soon, it was so beautiful.

See

I feel so lucky to be able to see such beautiful places. On Saturday I visited somewhere that I've wanted to go to for a long time - the unbelievably blue Lünersee in the Rätikon mountain range, in a corner of Austria bordering Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The nature was amazing. I'll post some more photos soon.

Alpine

The other day was a public holiday in Austria and I went for a morning hike/ berry-picking mission up one of the nearby mountains. I'm happy I took my camera along - I've been getting a bit lazy lately to take my DSLR camera with me when I go places, especially since I find the quality of my iPhone pictures surprisingly good.
I'm three weeks into a 10-week design internship (which I'm loving) but I miss all the free time I have as a uni student (on exchange at least!) compared to working full time. Autumn is approaching steadily and nice days are becoming fewer and fewer. It's a bit sad to see shops already having winter clothing in the displays. Summer in Europe is too nice for too short.

Silent

Even though I'm in visa-application hell at the moment, I just have to look at photos like these and I can forgive Europe (especially German-speaking countries!) for being so damn diplomatic. I really can't believe how difficult it is to stay in a country for an extra 6 months. My family came to visit last week and I showed them my favourite spots in the in the Austrian mountains and we visited Zurich and its surrounding lakes on the weekend.

Mountain

I'm so lucky to be surrounded by this. Even though it's truly supposed to be summer by now but it's been less than 10 degrees and raining non-stop for more than two weeks, I love it. Heck, may as well stay the whole year.

Lugano

Photos from another dreamy day trip to Lugano. It was nice to have a break from chaotic Italy on my recent trip in this very nostalgic & photogenic Swiss town.

Weekend in the city

Last weekend was filled with some of my favourite things; Berlin (a nice change to be in a busier place now I'm living in such a small town), friends, sunshine, old East German bars, second hand shops, breakfast at my favourite Cafe Fleury, a lazy Sunday at Mauerpark flea market. Definitely worth the 12+ hour bus trip.
