A highlight of my trip was spending a week in a friend's late grandmother's apartment in the middle of Budapest. Everything was exactly as she left it and we were often amused by what a 'war child' her grandmother apparently was - a mug's handle that had been broken in at least 5 pieces superglued together, an old deodorant bottle used to store peppercorns and drink bottles' lids reused as spoons. I really loved Hungary and everyone I met there and can proudly say that I can now correctly pronounce 'Magyar' (Hungary in Hungarian - which apparently is the 3rd most difficult language to learn).

M.I.A.
I finally have internet! I had a wonderful and super busy month in Europe and I'm really enjoying the slower pace here in South Africa. These photos I took are of one of my favourite childhood places in a coastal town about 1.5 hours from Cape Town. I spent the past few days here and even though it's Winter, it was still really beautiful and peaceful, and it was great to catch up with family I hadn't seen in years. I'll be breaking Europe up into separate posts and will try to make up for the 5+ weeks that I've been away!

GOING, GOING
Today! My digital and film cameras are
packed and it feels good to be doing Europe with decent cameras this time round
and properly document places, experiences and food… maybe do something similar to Vietnom(?). I won’t
have my laptop for the month I’m in Europe so won’t be able to do any posts,
but follow me on Twitter (@m4dlol) for updates and Instagram (@m4dlol) for pictures
of coffee and overuse of the earlybird filter (I’ll try post some mildly
interesting photos as well). And please let me know if you have any suggestions
for places to go or eat in Paris/ Budapest/ Vienna/ Madrid/ Lisbon/ Berlin
& Cape Town. I’m ridiculously excited,
this past semester was way too busy for my liking and I can’t wait to see and
debrief with friends and family overseas. Tschüss!
